First Year!

Happy 1st Birthday!

My baby boy had his first birthday a few days ago and it doesn’t feel real. I can still remember the day we found out we were having a baby, the day we heard it was a boy, the day I went in to labor, and of course the labor itself like they were yesterday. So much has happened this past year with our little gift from God! He is truly a blessing in our lives!
I get emails from parenting websites and today the email called my little boy a toddler. That just seems so crazy to me to think that my baby is considered a toddler already! I refuse to think of him as a toddler till he is carrying on full conversations with me… and even then I’ll probably deny it. He has only been with us for a year, but I can’t imagine my life without him. He’s like another part of me… always does what I do and goes where I go. He’s my little buddy. :)
Tyler has learned and changed so much this past year! He was sitting up at 6 months, crawling at 7 months, and took his first step a day before he turned 9 months! Now, at a year old, he is running all over the place and climbing up on EVERYTHING. He is such a little daredevil and not afraid of anything.
First taste of cake!
Tyler was almost strictly breastfed (with the exception of a few tastes of fruits and veggies starting at 10 months) till he was a year old, because I heard it can help with not having allergies (like environmental) when he’s older. I have to say I got a lot of flak from everyone about it saying “Oh just let him try some”, or “In my day, we were supposed to feed them at 6 months” or sneaking him food without even asking me. Jeremy agreed with me though and that’s all I needed. The funny thing is, we’ve started giving him a little food now, and he doesn’t really even like it. Some things he’ll eat a few bites of, but he sure doesn’t love it as much as Jericho (who is older) or Grayson (who is younger). I think he just thinks he’s cool because he’s eating like mommy and daddy.
First taste of sugar from grandpa
Still though we try to give him only fruits and veggies… aside from his first taste (more like lick) of birthday cake and the sucker my dad gave him the other day. Oh yeah the sucker incident… so I was teaching and Tyler came in with a sucker in his mouth which I assumed was still in wrapper (cuz he can’t take it out) till I noticed his mouth was all red. Apparently he climbed up the step stool and got it, so my dad took the wrapper off and gave it to him. Yeah… he got in big trouble for that one :P
So yes, this past year with our boy has been full of many milestones and memories. I can’t wait to see what the future years have in store for us! :)
